I am a secretary at a large company, and most of what I do at work is done from my desk chair. I am the first person that our visiting customers see, and my workspace is he first impression that the customers have of our company. I keep my work area very tidy and color to attract the customer’s eye, but my desk chair is just awful. It is old and broken and has been patched more than one time.

One day, I approached the director of purchasing of my company and told him about this problem that I was having with my desk chair, and I asked if I could have a nice executive office chair that would make my workspace more appealing to a customer. He told me that the company had not budgeted a new executive office chair for me, but if I would be willing to settle for a new swivel chair, then I could search for one and let him know.

Even though I really wanted an executive office chair, I knew that I would be happy with a swivel chair just so I was not sitting in the chair that I was now. I searched through numerous magazines for a nice, swivel chair that the company could afford. I was able to find one the suited me, and when I showed the director of purchasing, he said that it was affordable. Now I have nice, new, chair, and I’m no longer sitting on the eye sore in my work station.
