When my dad started his own business after retiring from the company he worked for, for the past 35 years, he was not as prepared as he thought he would be. He imagined that all of his experience helping to run a company would put him in a position where he could easily run his own. However, he did not take into consideration that he did not start the company that he was working at for so long; he started working there a few years after they opened. Anyway, after a while he realized that he was going to have to hire experts for things like computer and .NET software development rather than take a crack at it himself. It was not as easy as he thought it would be, but he is still glad that he decided to take a crack at self-employment.
