When my company decided to send me to a marketing convention, I was very surprised to learn that it was in Adelaide, Australia. In this tough economy I never thought for a second they would send someone out of the country for a convention. However, I discovered that the trip did not cost any more than it would for them to send me to New York because they used the Internet to find cheap adelaide hotels and airfare, and it ended up saving them a bundle. I stayed near the Adelaide Convention Center next to the River Torrens and it was a beautiful area.
